⚠️ Alert: A dangerous Android malware called GhostBat RAT is spreading in India, disguised as official RTO and mParivahan apps. It can steal UPI info, OTPs, and even use your phone to mine cryptocurrency.

🚨 How It Spreads

Hackers are sending fake RTO app links through WhatsApp, SMS, and websites. These messages often contain shortened URLs (like bit.ly) that redirect you to fake pages hosting malicious APKs. Once installed, the app looks real — but secretly spies on your phone.

💀 What GhostBat RAT Does

  • Steals OTP and SMS messages, especially from banking apps.
  • Shows fake UPI payment screens to steal PINs.
  • Uses your phone to mine cryptocurrency secretly.
  • Sends all stolen data to hackers through Telegram bots.

🛡️ How to Stay Safe

  • ✅ Only download official RTO or mParivahan apps from the Google Play Store.
  • 🚫 Don’t click on links from WhatsApp, SMS, or Telegram messages.
  • ⚙️ Go to Settings → Apps and remove any unknown RTO app.
  • 🔒 Revoke SMS and Accessibility permissions from unused apps.
  • 📱 Keep Android updated and use Google Play Protect.
  • 💳 If you entered UPI or banking info in a fake app, change passwords immediately.

⚠️ Signs of Infection

  • Phone heats up or drains battery quickly.
  • Unfamiliar RTO/mParivahan app appears in installed apps list.
  • Missing or delayed OTPs, new random popups asking for UPI PIN.

🧹 What to Do If You’re Infected

  1. Turn on Airplane Mode immediately.
  2. Uninstall the suspicious app via Settings → Apps.
  3. If uninstall doesn’t work, reboot in Safe Mode and try again.
  4. As a last resort, back up important data and do a factory reset.
  5. Reset all bank and UPI passwords from a clean phone.
  6. Report to cybercrime.gov.in and CERT-In.
TL;DR – Don’t install RTO apps from WhatsApp or SMS links. Only use Google Play Store and keep your phone updated. Stay alert!
